World Snow Festival in Grindelwald

International Ice Sculpture contest

January 16 – 21 , 2014

The World Snow Festival is one of the most popular winter events in the glacier village of Grindelwald. It would indeed be hard to imagine a month of January without it! This fascinating festival was launched in 1983, when a Japanese artist carved a giant Heidi into the snow. Today, a myriad of different snow sculptures takes shape on the natural ice rink in the centre of the village, bringing much fun and creativity to the village. Teams of artists from all over the world create surprising sculptures on a theme.
